And [mention, O Muhammad], when Allah took a covenant from those who were given the Scripture, [saying], "You must make it clear to the people and not conceal it." But they threw it away behind their backs and exchanged it for a small price. And wretched is that which they purchased.
اور اللہ تعالٰی نے جب اہل کتاب سے عہد لیا کہ تم اسے سب لوگوں سے ضُرور بیان کرو گے اور اسے چھُپاؤ گے نہیں ، تو پھر بھی ان لوگوں نے اس عہد کو اپنی پیٹھ پیچھے ڈال دیا اور اسے بہت کم قیمت پر بیچ ڈالا ۔ ان کا یہ بیوپار بہت بُرا ہے ۔
And from those who say, "We are Christians" We took their covenant; but they forgot a portion of that of which they were reminded. So We caused among them animosity and hatred until the Day of Resurrection. And Allah is going to inform them about what they used to do.
اورجو اپنے آپ کو نصرانی کہتے ہیں ہم نے ان سے بھی عہد و پیمان لیا ، انہوں نے بھی اس کا بڑا حصہ فراموش کر دیا جو انہیں نصیحت کی گئی تھی ، تو ہم نے بھی ان کے آپس میں بغض و عداوت ڈال دی جو تاقیامت رہے گی اور جو کچھ یہ کرتے تھے عنقریب اللہ تعالٰی انہیں سب بتا دے گا ،
