And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], "Do not worship except Allah ; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakah." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing.
اور جب ہم نے بنی اسرائیل سے و عدہ لیا کہ تم اللہ کے سوا دوسرے کی عبادت نہ کرنا اور ماں باپ کے ساتھ اچھا سلوک کرنا ، اسی طرح قرابتداروں ، یتیموں اور مسکینوں کے ساتھ اور لوگوں کو اچھی باتیں کہنا ، نمازیں قائم رکھنا اور زکوۃ دیتے رہا کرنا ، لیکن تھوڑے سے لوگوں کے علاوہ تم سب پھر گئے اور منہ موڑ لیا ۔
And Allah had already taken a covenant from the Children of Israel, and We delegated from among them twelve leaders. And Allah said, "I am with you. If you establish prayer and give zakah and believe in My messengers and support them and loan Allah a goodly loan, I will surely remove from you your misdeeds and admit you to gardens beneath which rivers flow. But whoever of you disbelieves after that has certainly strayed from the soundness of the way."
اور اللہ تعالٰی نے بنی اسرائیل سے عہد و پیماں لیا اور انہی میں سے بارہ سردار ہم نےمقرر فرمائے اور اللہ تعالٰی نے فرمادیا کہ یقیناً میں تمہارے ساتھ ہوں ، اگر تم نماز قائم رکھو گے اور زکوۃ دیتے رہو گے اور میرے رسولوں کو مانتے رہو گے اور ان کی مدد کرتے رہو گے اور اللہ تعالٰی کو بہتر قرض دیتے رہو گے تو یقیناً میں تمہاری برائیاں تم سے دور رکھوں گا اور تمہیں ان جنتوں میں لے جاؤں گا جن کے نیچے چشمے بہہ رہے ہیں ، اب اس عہد و پیمان کے بعد بھی تم میں سے جو انکاری ہو جائے وہ یقیناً راہ راست سے بھٹک گیا ۔
