Punishment for the swaggerer

Allah has already given you victory in many regions and [even] on the day of Hunayn, when your great number pleased you, but it did not avail you at all, and the earth was confining for you with its vastness; then you turned back, fleeing.
یقیناً اللہ تعالٰی نے بہت سے میدانوں میں تمہیں فتح دی ہے اور حنین کی لڑائی والے دن بھی جب کہ تمہیں اپنی کژت پر ناز ہو گیا تھا لیکن اس نے تمہیں کوئی فائدہ نہ دیا بلکہ زمین باوجود اپنی کشادگی کے تم پر تنگ ہوگئی پھر تم پیٹھ پھیر کر مڑ گئے ۔
And We caused the earth to swallow him and his home. And there was for him no company to aid him other than Allah , nor was he of those who [could] defend themselves.
۔ ( آخرکار ) ہم نے اسے اس کے محل سمیت زمین میں دھنسا دیا اور اللہ کے سوا کوئی جماعت اس کی مدد کے لئے تیار نہ ہوئی نہ وہ خود اپنے بچانے والوں میں سے ہو سکا ۔
And do not turn your cheek [in contempt] toward people and do not walk through the earth exultantly. Indeed, Allah does not like everyone self-deluded and boastful.
لوگوں کے سامنے اپنے گال نہ پھلا اور زمین پراترا کر نہ چل کسی تکبر کرنے والے شیخی خورے کو اللہ تعا لٰی پسند نہیں فرماتا ۔
ثُمَّ اَوۡلٰی لَکَ فَاَوۡلٰی ﴿ؕ۳۵﴾
Then woe to you, and woe!
وائے ہے اور خرابی ہے تیرے لئے ۔
